2 Samuel 15:31

31 And it was told David, “Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.” And David said, “O Lord, please ^aturn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.”

2 Samuel 16:20-23

20 Then Absalom said to Ahithophel, “Give your counsel. What shall we do?” 21 Ahithophel said to Absalom, “Go in to ^byour father’s concubines, whom he has left to keep the house, and all Israel will hear that you have made yourself a stench to your father, and ^cthe hands of all who are with you will be strengthened.” 22 So they pitched a tent for Absalom ^don the roof. And Absalom went in to his father’s concubines ^ein the sight of all Israel. 23 Now in those days the counsel that Ahithophel gave was as if one consulted the word of God; so was all the counsel of Ahithophel esteemed, ^fboth by David and by Absalom.

2 Samuel 17:14

14 And Absalom and all the men of Israel said, “The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel.” ^gFor the Lord had ordained ^{▼▼Hebrew commanded} to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, so that the Lord might bring harm upon Absalom.

2 Samuel 17:23

23 When Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled his donkey and went off home to ⁱhis own city. He ^jset his house in order and ^khanged himself, and he died and was buried in the tomb of his father.
